The latest trailer for Samurai spirit features even more gruesome monsters and gory details, but at least there are some fluffy animal companions.
Digital Mind Games unveiled the latest trailer for the 2D metroidvania Souls-like The Spirit of the Samurai at its Summer Future Games Show. The one-minute trailer featured the main character’s samurai along with his spirit friends; forest spirit Kitsune, a guide fox, and Chisai, a warrior cat.
Traveling between worlds with these companions by your side, you’ll face hordes of Tengs, undead warriors in dungeons, caves and graveyards. Combat is gruesome and extremely bloody, but what else can you expect from a souls-style dark fantasy?
However, a humanoid spider with a jaw that juts out like a serpent will be a sight I won’t soon forget, and not for the right reasons.
Still, Samurai spirit seems exceptionally beautiful in its weird twisted way, with stop-motion animation and a stunning art style that offers at least some respite from its darker twisted themes.
Samurai spirit will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC in 2024.
